Laparoscopic Hernia Surgery

Laparoscopic hernia surgery, also known as minimally invasive hernia repair, is a procedure used to repair hernias through small incisions in the abdomen. During the surgery, the surgeon inserts a laparoscope, a thin tube with a tiny camera attached, through one incision. This camera allows the surgeon to view the hernia and surrounding tissue on a monitor.

Additional small incisions are made to insert surgical instruments, which are used to repair the hernia. The surgeon may use mesh to reinforce the weakened area of the abdominal wall and reduce the risk of the hernia recurring.

Benefits of laparoscopic hernia surgery may include smaller incisions, reduced pain and scarring, quicker recovery time, and potentially a lower risk of complications compared to traditional open hernia surgery.

It’s essential to consult with a qualified medical professional if you’re considering hernia surgery to discuss your specific situation, treatment options, risks, and benefits.
